We've all heard about the potential nightmares of international roaming; getting home from a relaxing overseas trip to a phone bill that is hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars!  Recently we've come across a product called 'Globalgig', a SIM card that allows you to control the data roaming usage on your mobile phone or device, eliminating the stress of your looming bill. 

It's quite simple to set up, you choose a plan, or pay as you go, and over 80 countries are supported in Asia, Europe, UK and USA.  The cheapest plan available is 250MB for $4.99 a month and most expensive is 10GB for $50 a month - you can see all plans here.  There are no lock-in contracts and you have the flexibility to change your plan monthly to suit your needs.

To simplify traveling with your mobile device, Globalgig have one global Access Point Name (APN) which means internet on your device will automatically work in all connected countries, and your SIM and device automatically register on the partner network, allowing you to also make calls and send messages within connected countries as soon as you arrive.

Globalgig is available at most of Australia's biggest retailers including BigW, Dick Smith, The Good Guys and Harvey Norman.  There aren't a whole lot of cons when using Globalgig so don't forget about it the next time you're going on a big trip!
