Internal Specialist Register

Professional development is a big part of the ethos here at Overells.  One way we encourage this is through something we call our 'internal specialist register'.  It has many valuable uses within the company.

First of all, what is it?

The internal specialists register is an Excel spreadsheet listing the software that we use and which staff members have been allocated to become our in-house "experts" in each program.  Using conditional formatting to show which programs haven't been discussed for the longest encourages our experts to bring a new tip (or trap) to our training meetings on a regular basis.

By keeping a register of the useful tips new staff are alert to what we've found useful in the past, and it allows us to go back and bring up older tips that may have been forgotten by the majority.

Another purpose of the register is to make sure we are on top of the most recent updates and developments in each program.  By sharing knowledge within the company we ensure that we operate on a 'best practice' basis that is consistent across all staff members, which is one of the ways we can guarantee the quality of our work.

Our spreadsheet is mostly automated – the only data entry required is the tips!  If you'd like help setting up your own internal specialist register, feel free to give us a call.
